First C2C Home Competition Design Under Construction

Blue Ridge Housing Development Corporation is building the Feather-Rife house C2C Home Competition design on Gilmer Avenue in historic Gainsboro. Southern Heritage Homes has been contracted by BRHDC to construct the custom modular units. The house is currently under construction and is being prepared to be placed on the site in the next few months.

Enjoy a few photos of the site and the progress of the construction.

Grist article on C2C Home's Construction

Check out the great Grist article on the upcomming construction of first attempt at a cradle-to-cradle home built from a competition entry. We acknowledge that a cradle-to-cradle home is unattainable at this time; however, we are confident that this will begin conversations around cradle-to-cradle building practices in residential housing.

We would like to thank Blue Ridge Housing Development Corporation for taking ownership of this project and agreeing to construct this house, with the assistance of Southern Heritage Homes.
